KGS Client for PC

Best Go App You can play go smoothly and therfore pleasantly on this app. At first sight there seems not much, but eventually you will find this is much more than any other go apps. Everything is surely pretty in terms of functionality and aesthetics. As a go maniac I had been testing most of all go apps or sites. I found only this app has no deception. My conclusion is that this app is the best among go apps. This is the only paid app for my happiness in go.

Lots of high level players and great app! "play game" part is brilliantly done, I move a red rectangular box around, once the place I want put a stone is highlighted, click the "confirm" button, nice and easy. The red box is always slightly above where I touch the screen so it's never blocked by my finger tip, excellent thought! Way better than "zoom in zoom out" solution used by other Go apps. One issue: "open game" list doesn't update itself, end up having awkward gaps. Price is reasonable now, $20 was a bit too much.

Bill Shubert asking big money for unworthy product, the design is ugly and confusing. You should have team to revamped design and bugs and don't take money for granted. Even better if you can open protocol so better programmer can develop better app and iOS compatibility. This is like taking candy from a child. Don't buy and stick to java desktop app.

Simple app. App works with a few flaws. Overall not great but not unusable. It's OK in that regard. The big hit for it is KGS itself. Larger community but very poorly managed. Either they make up community rules as they go or ban random users. Watching (literally just watching) a game not doing anything and got the boot (with BS reason). Can't get back on (said I'm blocked by IP and user name). No reply from admins. There are better run servers and clients out there. If it's mistaken identity that's even worse.

Must-Have Features Offline .sgf review, entry and variations navigation similar to the older KGS Java client. Current version runs very well. Happy with my purchase, understanding that development is continuing. Great job.

intuitive gui. no option to change skin or color. i need a light interface. don't think there's any option to save the game as sgf file also. overpriced for something mediocre.

Limited but grateful I don't believe this app has been updated since 2011. I would pay a lot more money just for the simple feature to create my own game seek ad. Grateful to use on android but limited. Almost not worth the money but better than being away from home with no KGS.

It's great for 19x19 games, but for some strange reason lacks the ability to create 9x9 and 13x13. You can join them if there's a game of that size waiting to be joined. But you can't create a "seek" for anything but 19x19. Come on, devs! The functionality is there.... just let us create the "seek match" for different sizes.

Great app, missing blitz though! I really like the app and don't understand why it has anything but good reviews. Please allow blitz games when searching for a game. Otherwise the app is 5/5!

Bonus time abuse Quite a few players abuse bonus time, turning quick games into drawn out affairs and there are no options to change the settings.

Bad design Have nothing to do with the java version, it is just a "software" able to connect to the kgs server. I spent half a day just to figure out how to chat but you can't search for a user or see a graph rank. You cant modify the handy for a new chalange. Do you whant to see the score estimator, forget about, you can't!. Time settings for a new game is just on java version, here not. You can't see the full name ( if the players have a long nickname ). Com on...it is not a free software, fix it !!!

Tagged games Love the tagged game features it has as I'm dependent on this app to attend lessons with my teacher. I could tagged those lesson on the server's archive games from my mobile and then refer it back by visiting the archives! It's really convenient.

Only one game in, but no issues yet. It could really use some more options, though. For the money, the app is too limited. You are paying for access to the server. Pandanet is a better go playing app.

I can play go but... For the price I expected more of the functionality of the free website and less crashiness. Aaaand there's no iphone version, which, with Swift, should be fairly straightforward.

Needs more attention from developers Does not even have a confirm on the resign, have accidentally resigned two games now.

Expensive! Due to price and poor ui combo. Can't sign up in app and can't find sign up on web. Crap

Satisfied but needs more options please like the pc version i bought to support kgs because i played on the pc server for free for years.. If you want to make it better please add ingame options like the estimate result function you get after a player resigns at least you can see what the result would have been..

Pretty good It works but doesn't have as many functions as I would like. For 16 bucks an offline SGF editor would be Good

Time warnings broken! If you are watching games the time warning is annoying. If you turn it off then you don't get it for your own games. Also it seems to beep last 10seconds, which is plain ridiculous when playing 10second byomi game as it beeps all the time.

Good, lacking features Buy if you want to play, expect no bells or whistles (well some whistles).

I hate the update Pressing back used to give the option to resign now it just backs out keeping the game open and I have to go in the menu to resign super annoying

Can't make account Apparently the Java applet was abandoned, and you can't make an account without it? Seems badly maintained, regret that I got it.

Can't even play it cus I didn't already have an account don't have a computer that's why I bought it here in the first place so why would you have to have one to create an account

Really need an update For the price, one would expect a lot more. The app looks really dated.

Can't play specific people on android I can only play against the random matched people on the search for game mode, or against people who set up games on the pc mode. I wanted to play someone who also has an android but unless one of us creates the game on the pc we can't.

Great for playing games on KGS on the Go. However, it should give you the option to create 9x9 and 13x13 games, as well as change time limits and other options while opening games.

I'm missing the buddy list and fan list. Especially the ability to find games by player's name.

Hmm Ability to create a game instead of just joining other games would be very nice. Fix that and i would give 5 stars. Otherwise i prefer pandanet for better ui, more functions, and it's free. Though i do prefer the kgs community, pc version of kgs is much better than this app.

Gokgs has made life. I use to hate this app, it has drastically improved i can trust again! Also I would love the option to review my older games anytime.

Big fan Only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 is because sometimes it tells me I cannot play ranked games however I love KGS on my computer and this just makes it more accessible to me when I'm not able to log on. The people are friendly and it's a bit more user friendly than some of the other Go apps I've tried

How to use KGS Client for PC

You can run all Android games and applications on your PC or MAC computer. Using a free software called Bluestacks, you don't need to purchase anything but games or applications it self if it isn't free.

Download Bluestacks from this link.
Install BlueStacks from installation file with following the on-screen instructions.
Once Bluestacks is installed add your Google account in it.
Type KGS Client for PC in Search bar and install it.
